A graphic showing the application of the "Heimlich Maneuver" on an Unconscious Adult

A graphic showing a close-up of the proper hand position for the application of the "Heimlich Maneuver" on an Unconscious adult.

Notice that in the first of the two pictures, the rescuer has opted to kneel on one side of the patient.  This is certainly a reasonable position to accomplish the goal.  My experience, however, tells me that the rescuer is off center and off balance.  In the second picture, from the position of the arms, it would appear that the rescuer has assumed a position as described in the text.

Note from Mr. Corby:

Recently, the cost of maintaining these pages has started to "bite" into my budget.  I'm not complaining, mind you, the amount of self-satisfaction that I get from your comments about the usefulness of this site, is well worth the expense.  One way or another, I will continue to maintain and update these pages for as long as I draw breath.  If any of you would like to help by making a small non tax deductible donation (God Bless You,) mail your support to:  Emergency Medical Ed, 2053 NW 79 Ave  #26211, Miami, FL. 33122.  Thank you for your help in keeping this site going.
